Chemical Radioprotection of Mammalian Chromosomes in Vivo: Radioprotection of Rat Bone-marrow Chromosomes with a Single Prophylactic Dose of AET

Summary

Of three prophylactic doses of AET pre-treatment 240 mg/kg gave the best protection against chromosome aberrations induced by 640 R of x-rays in rat bone-marrow, DRF values being 1·23–1·36. Even this low DRF at the level of early cellular lesion may considerably influence in favour of survival of sublethally-irradiated animals.
