Summary

Pulse radiolysis has been used to estimate the thermodynamic parameters associated with the binding of six cationic dyes to tracheal chondroitin-4-sulphate. Very similar enthalpy and entropy values were obtained for the dyes of markedly different chemical structure. The extent of destruction of the complexes with increased temperature has been compared with known data of their stability in the presence of ethanol and urea.
