Summary
The response of the stem cells of the duodenal mucosa in mice protected with AET or with a mixture of radioprotectors and exposed to 225 R of x-rays was studied. Under these conditions the protective action observed in the stem cells of the duodenum is partially masked by the biochemical shock that follows the administration of these chemicals. For the four end-points studied, a protective effect was observed only for the number of nuclei per crypt and the number of pycnotic and karyorrhectic nuclei.
