Summary
Ultra-violet irradiation of λ phage results in an inhibition of conversion of λ DNA in host cells from the initial linear form to twisted circular form. The formation of open circular λ DNA in vitro (formation of Hershey's circle) was quite resistant to the irradiation. The occurrence of denaturation by ultraviolet irradiation was detected in λ DNA.
