Abstract
The aim of the study was to investigate the test- retest reliability of the Sunnaas ADL Index. The hypothesis was that the Sunnaas ADL Index can be repeated, within a short time period and show the same result. The study was retrospective and included 44 patients, 31 men and 13 women who were admitted to Sunnaas Rehabilitation Hospital in 1991. A test-retest procedure requires that the characteristic being measured does not change between the two test occasions. Therefore the patients included in the study were those who were admitted only for short periods, up to two weeks, where the delay between the measurements was brief. The reliability testing focused on test-retest reliability, also called repeatability. This was investigated by using an agreement analysis. All 44 patients were evaluated using the Sunnaas ADL Index on admission and at discharge. The results showed a high level of agreement between the evaluations at both test occasions. The Agreement Index was high and close to 1.0 for all tested variables. The results of this study confirm that Sunnaas ADL Index has good repeatability and thus seems to be a reliable ADL assessment.
