SUMMARY
Balandin's article opens up discussion about this client group whose needs have not hitherto been addressed and identifies the need for research to be undertaken in this area. Undoubtedly, individual practitioners are already developing their own models of service delivery, particularly in relation to training others and passing on skills. Actively involving those who are ageing with a disability should be central to any work that is carried out, as they can provide crucial first-hand knowledge of the issues that need to be explored. A sharing of “good practice” could also be established so that evidence can be gathered regarding what we, as a profession, are providing, and whether or not it “works” from the client's point of view.
