Development and assessment of the vestibular system

Abstract

Paediatric vestibular assessment is necessary in various situations, yielding invaluable information relating to diagnoses and allowing for the formulation of appropriate rehabilitative strategies when considering the management of children with vestibular and balance problems, alone or in association with hearing impairment or other developmental disorders. The development and assessment of the vestibular system is considered in this article.

La evaluación vestibular pediátrica es necesaria en varias situaciones; proporciona información invaluable relacionada con el diagnóstico y permite la formulación de estrategias rehabilitatorias apropiadas en el tratamiento de los niños con problemas vestibulares y del equilibrio, acompañadas o no de hipoacusia u otros trastornos del desarrollo. El desarrollo y la evaluación del sistema vestibular son considerados en este artículo.
