Risk Factors for Opportunistic Infections after Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplants

Abstract

A meeting on April 29, 1999, in Wilmington, Delaware, examined a variety of important issues related to viral infections in patients undergoing hemaopoietic stem cell transplants. This volume represents some of the most important and most recent thoughts on the particular viral infections of great significance to the stem cell therapy patient and how those infections ought to be managed. This paper provides an introduction to the subjects discussed, presents the problem areas and summarizes the meeting objectives.
