Deconstructing whiteness, empire and mission

edited by Anthony G. Reddie and Carol Troupe, London, SCM Press, 2023, 316 + xv pp., £25.00 (PBK), ISBN: 9780334055938

Notes

1 The pool of the elf Galadriel was a silver lined basin filled with water in which the viewer would be able to view past, present, and future. The basin, however, did not differentiate exactly what it might reveal, as Frodo discovered when Galadriel invited him to look into it. See J. R. R. Tolkien’s work The Lord of the Rings and Peter Jackson’s film trilogy of the same.

2 See Bawden, Charles R., Shamans, Lamas and Evangelicals: The English Missionaries in Siberia. Routledge and Kegan Paul, London, Boston, Melbourne and Henley, 1985.
