Does the tourism industry help to fight COVID-19?

ABSTRACT

The global COVID-19 pandemic has affected a large number of industries. Tourism and the hospitality sector are among the most affected. Scientists from all over the world are considering the impact of the coronavirus and the prospects for the transformation of tourism during and after the pandemic. At the same time, the tourism industry itself not only suffers from COVID-19 but also helps to fight it. This article provides a brief overview of the directions in the development of tourism that allow limiting the spread of COVID-19 and ensuring the safety of tourists. Some problems and advantages of using tourism to combat the pandemic are discussed. The findings will contribute to understanding the role of the tourism industry in the fight against coronavirus and promote new research in this area.
