Abstract

Four hundred and eighty-two babies delivered as breech (vaginal and abdominal) over a period of 2 years were recruited for the study. Three hundred and thirty babies attended for assessment of the four basic parameters, i.e. physical growth, gross motor skills, fine motor skills and language. Assessment was carried out by trained staff under the supervision of a developmental paediatrician, using the Modified Denver Development Screening System. Each child was examined on two occasions—1 year after birth and 2 years after birth. The findings were compared with the general paediatric population (890 of 981 babies born during 1 month).
