Abstract
Supine positioning during sleep for all healthy infants is advocated by the American Academy of Pediatrics Task Force on Infant Positioning and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). This review will summarize published studies related to SIDS positioning recommendations, efficacy of recent public health campaigns to reduce prone sleep positioning and SIDS, and developmental considerations regarding supine sleep positioning for infants.
