Abstract
Herbal medicinals hold great promise to enhance the health and well-being of consumers. To realize this great promise, improved standardization and manufacture must be implemented by the industry. Parallels between herbal medicinal development and manufacture and pharmaceutical development and manufacture are drawn. Especially critical are issues of current good manufacturing practices (cGMP). GMP as the standard for pharmaceuticals manufacture is reviewed. Important elements of herbal medicinal manufacturing are discussed.
