ADMINISTRATIVE PSYCHIATRY

Administrators: masters or servants?

Pages 334-336 | Published online: 16 Sep 2009

Abstract

Objective: To question the role of medical administrators of mental health services.

Conclusions: The primary allegiance of medical administrators should be to patients and the clinicians who care for them, not to politicians and those who hold the purse strings.

Physicists are reported to have discovered the heaviest known element. They call it ‘administratium’ and it possesses one neutron, eight assistant neutrons, 10 executive neutrons, 35 vice-neutrons, and 256 assistant vice-neutrons. The whole structure is kept in place by particles called morons. By a strange logical fallacy, administratium is completely inert, although it can be detected chemically because it impedes every reaction with which it comes into contact.

In the quest to be efficient and entrepreneurial, management bullies are dehumanizing their employees and treating people as a commodity.Citation
