Abstract

Our review examines the nature of serum amyloid A, its isoforms and, their structure, the manner of induction of the acute phase forms and arguments for and against their possible physiological function(s). In this context, the possible role of serum amyloid A as a prognostic indicator of unstable angina and its significance in relation to cardiovascular disease is discussed.
