CONSEQUENCES OF AN OUTPATIENT PHARMACY CLOSURE WITHIN AN ACADEMIC HEALTH CENTER

Pages 43-53 | Published online: 06 Oct 2002

ABSTRACT

This retrospective case-report investigation examined whether limiting access to prescriptions increased other hospital costs and negatively impacted patients. We examined the health services utilization of former discount patients with selected chronic diseases. Discontinuation of the outpatient discounted-prescription to financially constrained patients appears to have a negative impact on morbidity.
