CONVENIENT SYNTHESIS OF RETINOL-RELATED POLYENES THROUGH HYDROXYALKYLATION OF 3-SULFOLENES

Abstract

Convenient synthesis of retinol-related polyenes is described through hydroxyalkylation of 3-sulfolenes followed by one-pot desulfonylation and dehydration in the presence of POCl3/pyridine in toluene.
