Synthesis of an Amino Acid with Protected Cyclen Side Chain Functionality

Abstract

Starting from glutamic acid an artificial amino acid with 1,4,7,10‐tetraazacyclododecane (cyclen) side chain functionality is prepared. The orthogonal protected building block allows the facile introduction of a metal ion binding site into peptide structures.
