Abstract
A new surgical dressing material in sheet form (gelatin 20%, pectin 20%, sodium carboxymethyl cellulose 20%, polyisobutylene 40%) has been tried in the treatment of varicose ulceration, to overcome the difficulties encountered in applying firm pressure continuously to the floor of a deep ulcer. Preliminary results in 15 cases seem to indicate that this may have a place as an adjunct to routine therapy. The effect of the ulcer on the material is also discussed.
