Septic arthritis in Northern Nigeria

Summary

The pattern of septic arthritis as seen in Northern Nigeria is reviewed and the presenting features of 77 cases are analyzed and discussed. Skin sepsis was the most common associated condition. There was no seasonal variation in the number of cases admitted to hospital and Staphylococcus aureus was the major organism isolated from infected joints.
