Patient counselling - its impact and importance in rheumatology

Summary

Although patient counselling has become a well-established practice in a number of areas of medicine, it has been neglected to a large extent by rheumatologists. The current concept of patient counselling is reviewed and ways are suggested in which the principles may be usefully applied by doctors and other health workers to improve the quality of care for patients with rheumatic diseases.
