Summary

A double-blind trial was carried out in 96 patients with acute tendinitis or bursitis to compare the anti-inflammatory and analgesic effectiveness of fentiazac with that of oxyphenbutazone. Patients were allocated at random to receive 400 mg daily of either drug over a 7-day period and were then followed-up for a further 7 days. Both drugs proved equally effective in relieving night pain, pain on movement, and oedema. Fentiazac, however, was better tolerated, causing fewer gastro-intestinal or other side-effects.
