Abstract

Torsion of the non-pregnant uterus is rarely seen in the human. Most reports in the literature concern pathologic (rotation exceeding 45o) torsion of the pregnant uterus (1, 2). Fibroma of the uterus is found in a great number of these cases (3). Abdominal pain is the major symptom and diagnosis is generally established at an inevitable laparotomy. In the present case a torsion of the uterus was evident preoperatively by abdominal X-ray examination.
