The non-surgical aspects of hearing and therapy for restoring hearing are many and varied. Therefore, in this paper I have had to concentrate on some main headings, constantly bearing in mind that it is the introduction to a discussion. Thus, some points will be passed over fairly quickly, while others will be stressed, intentionally, to give rise to discussion.
