On Directional sound Localization in Unilateral Deafness and its Explanation

Abstract

Monaural factors are of importance for directional hearing because total monaural deafness does not prevent the perception of direction. The vestibular organ is not directly responsible for monaural directional hearing, but small movements of the head and the shielding effect of the auricle and the head prove to be possible factors.
