Abstract
The results of 61 ear operations are reported. In 34 of these cases attico-antrotomy was done, in 21 ordinary radical operation, and in 6 myringo-plasty.
One-third of the first group and one-half of the second obtained dry cavities, but the difference was probably due to a relatively greater number of children in the first.
The hearing improved in about one-fourth in both groups.
Of the six patients submitted to myringoplasty, three obtained better hearing.
To improve the results early operation is recommended, before the sound-conduction system has become affected and the osteitis extended too deep, as well as a more accurate and more refined operative technique.
