Electromyography of Intrinsic and Extrinsic Laryngeal Muscles During Silent Speech: Correlation with Reading Activity: Preliminary Report

Abstract

During “silent speech” an increase in electrical activity was found in the vocal and the mylohyoid muscle. In the posterior crico-arytenoid muscle there was a reduction in electrical activity. The change in electrical activity was considerable in subjects with low reading ability.
