Abstract

A new ultrasonic generator for destruction of the vestibular end organ, operating at 3 Mc/s, is described and compared with the Arslan-Federici apparatus. The applicator employs a small ceramic transducer as a direct radiator. The beam shape has been demonstrated by the schlieren technique and temperatures within an artificial operation cavity are reported. Animal experiments at 1 Mc/s are reported and histological results produced.
