Abstract

A series of experimental stressor exposures is described, in which groups of stutterers had to expose their speech disturbance in public. The subjects' self—rated emotional reactions are compared with their sympatho—adreno—medullary “stress” reactions, as reflected by urinary excretion of catecholamines. The effect of iteration of the experimental situation and the influence of psycho—trophic drugs were also studied.
