Abstract

Auditory averaged evoked responses derived from the scalp in anesthetized cats are regarded as a sum of the volume conducted evoked potentials arising on various levels of the auditory pathway: starting with the intracranial segment of the cochlear nerve up to the auditory cortex. On the grounds of the experimental data obtained some problems concerning the mechanism of generation of vertex potentials in man are discussed.
