Abstract
Ten hay fever patients were challenged intra-nasally with allergen before, half an hour, 2 hours and 4 hours after intranasal use of disodium cromoglycate powder, placebo and ICI 74.917, a new aerosoled compound with anti-allergic action. The new compound showed a maximum protective effect after half an hour, and a significant difference was found also after 2 hours. The effect was also significantly better than that of disodium cromoglycate powder. The results were positive enough to make further human studies of ICI 74.917 desirable.
