Abstract
Two inquiries were made to 234 oto-laryngological, pneumological and anesthesiological clinics in northern Europe, demonstrating that 41 % of all bronchoscopies are made with the flexible technique and that topical anesthesia is the most prevalent form. Great differences in routines between otolaryngological and pneumological clinics exist, but the complication rate is very low in all hands. There is a trend toward more flexible bronchoscopy and more general anesthesia in the future.
