Abstract
In a material consisting 287 orbital fractures there were 69 patients with preoperative double-vision. Ordinary postoperative control 3–6 months after the trauma revealed the persistence of double-vision in 15 cases. These patients were reexamined 3–10 years after the trauma. In three cases severe invalidiating strabismus persisted and other three patients continued to have double-vision in the extreme positions of gaze. Long-lasting compensatory changes after the orbital trauma seem to necessitate rather long follow-up before secondary operative interventions are planned.
