Laser Surgery in Benign Laryngeal Disease

Pages 537-540 | Received 22 Sep 1981, Published online: 08 Jul 2009

Abstract

The application of laser surgery in the therapy of benign laryngeal disease has been established as a safe procedure, provided certain precautions are taken. Thanks to minimal postoperative tissue reaction, tracheotomy is not necessary, even after rather extensive surgery, and the pationts can be discharged from the hospital quite early, which helps compensate for the rather expensive equipment. Based on personal experience, the indications for laser surgery in microlaryngology are discussed.
