Synopsis

This is the fourth in a series of articles on the consequences of conjugal bereavement, and analyses the responses of 41 Australian widows to an interview designed to assess their perception of environmental support during the bereavement crisis. Consistent with the previous study on American subjects, it is concluded that widows who later experience deterioration in physical and/or mental health are likely to have perceived their environment during the crisis as unsatisfactory.
