On Not Being a Psychiatrist

(Professor of Clinical Psychiatry)
Pages 453-461 | Published online: 06 Jul 2009

Abstract

Although psychiatrists, particularly those who work in the public service, are required to be familiar with administrative practices, it is comparatively rare for a psychiatrist to become a full-time administrator in a situation where clinical skills are not required. This paper gives an account of such a position where, nevertheless, a knowledge of psychiatry was of some help.
