Abstract
The time taken for goldfish to lose their righting reflex under the influence of ethanol, was taken as a behavioural index of the alcohol's effect. Treatment of the animals with lithium chloride enhanced the effects of an alcohol tolerance procedure when testing was done in 3% aqueous alcohol solutions, but not in 4.5% or 6.0% solutions.
