Abstract

A study of the spleen and of lymph nodes from abdomen, neck and axilla in 300 necropsies has been made to determine the frequency of lipophage clusters. Such clusters were found in the spleen in 23.8% of cases, in the nodes from the porta hepatis in 47%, in nodes from the lesser curve of stomach in 17.5%, and in superior mesenteric nodes in 11.7%. They were infrequent in inferior mesenteric nodes, 2.7%, scalene, 0.36%, and axillary, 1.4%.

No correlation was found between the presence of lipophages and the patient's age, sex, and bodily habitus nor to diseases of the liver, pancreas or gastro-intestinal tract.
