Abstract
As a basis for detailed study of the mechanisms of epithelial migration following injury, an in vitro organ culture technique is described and the migration of the epithelial cells is compared in vivo and in vitro. Judged by morphological criteria, the behaviour of the epithelial cells during the first 48 hr. in vitro and in vivo is similar. After 1 wk. the similarity in the appearance and behaviour of the cells decreases.
