Abstract

A method employing temperature programmed gas-chromatography for the analysis of complicated lipid mixtures is described.

A direct gas-chromatographic analysis of the diazomethane treated total lipid sample and of the unsaponifiable material gives a general view of the major lipid constituents of the lipid mixture.

The method is applied to the analysis of skin surface fat (“sebum”), cerumen, vernix. caseosa and ovarian dermoid cyst fat.

Records of the analysis are given and are briefly discused.
