Abstract

Krøll, J. Lysis of 131I-Labelled Plasma Clots in Human Subcutaneous Tissue in Vivo. Scand. J. clin. Lab. Invest. 19 1–3, 1967. An in vivo estimate of the fibrinolytic activity in the human organism was attempted by locally monitoring a subcutaneously applied 1S8I-labelIed homologous plasma clot. The decay in activity was taken as a measure of the elimination rate of the clot.

The investigation comprised six normal elderly subjects (74–84 years). Monoexponential, reproducible and closely similar elimination rates were found (half life approximately 6 days). Preliminary studies, indicating that the method is applicable in the demonstration of sustained hypo- and hyperfibrinolytic states, are mentioned.
