Abstract
The renal specific blood flow and vascular volume were examined in 35 patients with hypertension and renal artery stenosis by means of radioactive tracers and an external counting technique. Identically reduced blood flows were found in stenotic and non-stenotic kidneys. The vascular volumes were reduced except behind kidneys with severe stenosis. This difference in vascular volume might explain the e/ually reduced blood flow contrasting the difference in degree of stenosis.
