Twin Thermocouples for Registration of Breathing-rate

Pages 299-301 | Received 19 Dec 1969, Accepted 17 Feb 1970, Published online: 13 May 2010

Abstract

A new probe for registration of respiration rate is described. It consists of two thermocouples connected in series and gives a graphic representation of the respiratory phases on an ECG taken concomitantly. It works when the patient breathes through his mouth or his nose or both. It is cheap and needs no energy, a DC-preamplifier connected to the ECG-equipment being the only equipment required.
