Fatty Acid Patterns Determined Simultaneously in Human Adipose Tissue, Liver, and Plasma during Starvation

Abstract

The changes in fatty acid composition during fat transport from adipose tissue to plasma FFA, liver TG, and plasma TG were investigated in human beings after starvation for 1 to 7 weeks. The differences found were smaller than those reported earlier after a short period of fasting. The special features of myristic, stearic, and linoleic acid are discussed.
