Bacteriology of the Maxillary Sinus in Healthy Volunteers

Abstract

In order to investigate the bacteriology of the healthy maxillary sinus, 12 volunteers were subjected to antral puncture with instillation of sterile saline, followed by aspiration. Maximum efforts were used to obtain aspirates without contamination. None of the aspirates showed bacterial growth.
