Abstract

Five surgically treated cases of radiation-induced injury of the small bowel, of a series of 34 patients with bladder tumour irradiated with telecobalt, are described. The onset of the symptoms was relatively acute. The radiation-induced injury of the terminal part of the small bowel can often be observed by roentgenography even before the onset of subjective symptoms. The treatment consists of resection of the injured part of the intestine.
