Abstract

1. Rats dosed with Epodyl excrete in urine triethyleneglycol-bis-2,3-dihydroxypropyl ether, an unidentified diol and two mercapturic acids. The amounts of triethyleneglycol-bis-2,3-dihydroxypropyl ether and of the two mercapturic acids excreted have been determined.

2. Epodyl has been shown to cause a fall in liver glutathione.

3. The synthesis and properties of triethyleneglycol-bis-2-hydroxy-(3-N-acetylcysteyl)propyl ether and triethyleneglycol-bis-2,3-dihydroxypropyl ether are described.
