Urethrocliesis: Treatment for genuine stress incontinence? A retrospective study

&
Pages 259-261 | Published online: 02 Jul 2009

Summary

A retrospective study was carried out on 24 patients who had urethrocliesis performed between 1984 and 1987 using a continuous 0/2 silk suture material in a zigzag manner. This suture ran from the bladderneck to within 0-5 cm of the urethral meatus and back again to the starting point at the bladderneck.

Most of these patients had had other procedures before having urethrocliesis. Two months after the operation, 17 patients reported subjective cure, five reported improvement, while two did not experience any improvement of their symptoms. Twelve to thirty-six months later, the corresponding figures were 12, six and four, while two did not reply.
