Assessment of Functional, Wellness Behaviors in Adolescents WHO are Mentally Retarded

Pages 331-339 | Published online: 10 Jul 2009

Abstract

Functional wellness behaviors of 46 mildly mentally retarded subjects enrolled in a community-based educational/vocational program were assessed. The subjects were evaluated to determine their ability to independently meet some of their health needs. A very low percentage of them had acquired independence in the assessed areas, indicating that greater attention needs to be focused on these areas as part of educational/ vocational program opportunities.
