Abstract
In order to test the theory that prolactin (Prl) regulates adrenal androgen (AA) secretion, large doses of bovine Prl were acutely infused into castrated dogs, and similar studies were performed with ovine Prl in castrated sheep. Prl with low-dose ACTH stimulation did not cause AA secretion beyond that which occurred following ACTH stimulation alone, and Prl alone did not stimulate AA secretion in vivo.
